The Children's Museum of Cleveland
seeks candidates for the position of Customer Service
Associate. This position represents the Museum to our guests and is
responsible for staffing the
front desk, answering phones and transferring calls, and conducting
sales of admissions,
memberships, and gift shop merchandise. The Customer Service Associate also assists in
straightening and maintaining exhibits. The ideal candidate must be outgoing and enthusiastic,
and enjoy working with
children and families. Customer service must be a priority.
Salary range $7-$7.50/hr.
Customer Service Associate
duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Answer phones in a professional and
pleasant manner.

Provide accurate information about
Museum including, but not limited to, admission fees, hours of
operation, events and programs, birthday parties, directions,
and exhibits.

Transfer calls to the appropriate
staff member.
-
Operate cash register(s) in an
accurate and efficient manner.
-
Enter correct admission fees,
codes, coupons, and merchandise amounts.
-
Properly record payment and provide
accurate change to customer.
-
Correctly operate data capture
(credit card) machines.
-
Provide accurate information to
visitors regarding Museum exhibits and policies.
-
Promote the sale of Museum
memberships.
-
Maintain Museum exhibits.
-
Clean and straighten exhibit
components throughout the day as needed.
-
Wipe tables and sweeps floors in
concession area maintaining a neat and clean area.
-
Remove trash left in exhibits and
place recyclable materials in appropriate containers.
-
Assist Museum guests as needed.

Time Requirements:
This position is part-time, 9 a.m. to 5
:30 p.m.,
up to 24 hours per week. Hours are variable and will
include weekdays, weekends and holidays. Salary is $7.00 to $7.50 per hour
based on experience. Occasional evenings and independent travel to
offsite locations may be required.

Weekend Manager
of Guest Services
As Weekend Manager you
are the representative of the Museum to every guest that enters the
building. Must be a self-motivated team player, able to provide
exceptional guest services to both children and families.
Responsibilities: manage front-of-house operations; supervise
part-time staff; assist with birthday parties; maintain Museum
exhibits. Management, retail and/or sales experience required.

Essential Guest Services
responsibilities:
-
Open and close Museum on Saturday and Sunday.
-
Open and close registers in an accurate and efficient manner
printing all reports as required. Monitors and reconciles daily
receipts in addition to reserve monies maintained in safe.

Supervise and support cashiers, Guest Services floor staff, and
volunteers. Fills in upon staff absence.
-
Maintain Museum exhibits, including straightening, cleaning and
disinfecting of exhibit components, including cleaning of
children’s spilled food/drink, bodily fluids, etc., throughout
the day and at closing. Suggest improvements as needed.

Takes charge of any emergency/injury situations occurring in the
museum.
-
Monitors breaks.
-
Enforces Guest Services uniform policy.
-
Facilitate successful execution of Birthday Party reservations.
Act as host to ensure guest satisfaction on day of party.
-
Promote sales of memberships.
-
Assist with special events (i.e. Parade the Circle, Fall for the
Circle, etc.).
Qualified applicants must possess
the following traits and characteristics:

College degree and/or work experience involving guest services,
management, retail and/or sales.

Ability to interact positively with young children and their
families.
-
Outstanding managerial and organizational abilities.
-
Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as
collaborative skills to work with staff across the Museum.

Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office Suite and
Email.

Ability to travel independently to off-site events, activities
and training opportunities.

Requires the ability to manage people and projects in a creative
and fast-paced professional environment. An energetic,
forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical
standards.

Requires excellent problem solving skills.
